BE AN OPPORTUNIST

During these difficult times, and they are difficult, you have 2 choices (maybe more):

stuckYou can feel hopeless, helpless and even useless. You feel stuck, because in a way you are stuck (at home).
You can get stuck (pardon the pun) into doing things that you have been putting off, because you haven’t had the time. Well, now you have the time. So clean out your cupboards, garage, those drawers in the kitchen, recipe books. What about tackling your computer and organizing your folders and files. How many e-mails did you say you had in your inbox? Read them (or not), deal with them and delete once done. How many websites have you subscribed to, and when their e-mail arrives, you just go “delete”? Why not take stock and decide which you are not interested in, and simply unsubscribe? You can always subscribe again, and they won’t even notice that you’re “gone”!! See it as an opportunity to be able to start on a clean slate.

learn-something-new

When you are done with all this clearing out, learn something new, something that you’ve always wanted to do, or something that you are curious about. Be adventurous: just do it! Learn a new skill or sharpen your skills. Become better at what you are doing.

What about cooking: try some new recipes? You might surprise your family, and even with yourself!

Why not try learning a new language? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument. You don’t have to aspire to becoming a world famous performer, just do it for yourself.

reach-outAnd then there is the cherry on top: Reach Out! Help others; phone your friends and family, especially those that live alone, remember to smile when you talk to them, they will be able to hear/feel it.

Offer your services at a reduced rate or for free if you are working for yourself. Not only will you be helping others, you will experience fulfillment and joy!

Get involved in a community project. Now is the time that you can make a difference in people’s lives, people that need food, clothing, etc. There are organizations that will collect from you, so you don’t have to drive and find people in need. Work through your local church or NPO.
